Down by the cable-ferry wharf is a beauty salon that has two cats. There is a silver cat and this black and white cat. The owner keeps them on leashes so they don't wander off. The leashes are fairly long but don't extend far outside the door. She also puts a dot of pink makeup on either side of this cat's nose. The cat probably doesn't care, but I can't help feeling embarrassed for it.

Fuji 200, Nikon F6 Another test to see how I like Blogger versus Wordpress. Wordpress themes are irritating me.

The day after I made the long-distance photo of Sokcho Lighthouse, I walked up the hill to have a closer look at it. As I mentioned before, ...
Makeup on a kitty? Poor thing. When our tortoiseshell was young, we tried her on a leash outdoors. She acted like she'd been paralysed...just lay down and resolutely refused to move. It was quite funny trying to stand her up - she just went floppy on us. We gave up on the leash and bought a cat-flap. Now the two of them live free - coming back to us for food, shelter and the odd bit of love&attention. Mostly they stick around the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that your kitty-cats have the freedom they crave. It's too dangerous to let cats out here.
DeleteThere's a couple of big old Toms that come round from time to time but I think ours have learnt to stand their ground and they don't seem to come around as much these days. There are only two things that worry me now - foxes and cars. I don't think they go out near the road, but then again, who knows what they get up to at night. We used to close them in at night but we've given up on that. I think when winter starts to close in they'll stay in the warmth of the house at night. Well, that's what I hope.
DeleteA couple of years ago I was watching one of the 'unwelcome visitors' crossing the field behind us and saw a fox creeping up on it. When it got to about 30 feet away it the fox made a run at it. At the last minute the Tom realised what was up and made a dash for the hedge, where I guess it shinned up a tree. It just made it in time and the fox lost interest pretty quickly and shuffled off. It was close, though!
I didn't know foxes would go for cats. But why not, I suppose. Anyway, glad to hear kitty got away.
