Bicycle Ride: Ayajin and Back Again

 I got up early-ish one morning in late September and rode my bicycle as far as Ayajin. In my shoulder bag was the D850 and a 28-85 zoom lens.

This wooded rock just off the shore doesn't seem to have a name that I can find. I could ask a local, but the only places close by are a small military post and a large tourist hotel. One blogger says this is called Jookdo (Bamboo Island), but he might be confusing it with another island farther north with the same name. Also, it turns out that basically any pile of rocks with bamboo on it is called Bamboo Island.

Ayajin Harbour Breakwater. The owner of this bicycle is probably on the other side of those tetrapods with a fishing rod. I didn't want to move the bicycle, but I wish it had been a little to the left so it wouldn't be covering the nose of the whale.

The Beach Brunch Café. An online search tells me they serve sweet breads, baguettes with sweet toppings, and pizzas. It's 200 metres from the beach as the crow flies and half a kilometre if you follow a road. Maybe they should have called it Beach View Café.

There's that island again, taken on my way back from Ayajin. There is something I like about this photograph, but I can't help thinking there was a very good composition here that I couldn't see. Maybe it will come to me if I pass this place another fifty times.

I looked through a book of Christopher Pratt prints the night before and this photo was influenced by him.  No comparison, of course.

Composition Study. I was sat at a picnic table outside a convenience store and thought it might be a good exercise to make a picture from that fixed position. Having a zoom lens was very useful . . .

Looking through my book of Christopher Pratt prints is not going to turn me into a photographic Christopher Pratt, but it did help me to see my surroundings a bit differently the next day. And that's why we read and look at books, of course.
