The buildings are beautiful, aren't they? And all done without nails. It isn't in this set of photographs, but I go to a small shrine at the back of the temple when I visit to relax for twenty minutes or so. Although the temple is a tourist attraction, if you get there early enough, the only sounds you can hear are birds, insects, and the monks performing their prayers.
Interesting place. I was going to ask if there are monks but I see from your comments that there are. What do they live on? Donations from public? I guess they grow their own food, or most of it.
The public donates to temples and the temples pay the monks. They also make money from people paying to have prayers said for them. You can pay for a one-time prayer, a week of prayers, and so on. They don't seem to be into farming at all.
I really like the style of the temples and I can't imagine how much work went into creating such beautiful architechure.

DeleteI watched a program years ago on how these type buildings were erected without the use of nails, the builders really know what they're doing.
