These chickens are usually in a small field with a number of goats. I guess the farmer let them out to eat up stray rice grains in the winter field.
Its head is down, but there is a turkey in the group. I wonder if the chickens recognise the difference between themselves and the turkey. For that matter, do they see the goats they live with as anything other than slightly odd-looking siblings?
That's a good philosophical question, I should think. It always amazes me how small birds (blue tits, great tits, robins etc) can distinguish themselves from others and know who to take as a mate. Clearly there's some sort of self-awareness there as well as the ability to discriminate.
ReplyDeleteI like the muted colours in this shot. My wife and I are watching an old Scandinavian crime series at the minute (about 10 years after it came out - we are always late to the party). The Bridge is shot in these really washed out, cold colours, which I love.
The little shed in the background is needed. I like the composition.
Thanks very much. The shed was definitely in my mind as I composed. If there was no shed, I think I would have gone left a little bit and used the fence as the top of my frame.
