In a month I'll be in a new apartment in a new city, arranging books, dishes, toiletries, and electronics. Everything in my current home feels temporary, like this ad hoc stand replacing the old stand that got thrown away.

DeleteAh. That puts a different spin on it. I hope you (a) have enough moolah saved to survive on for a while and (b) find gainful employment soon, assuming that's on your agenda. Of course if (c) your wife can keep you in the style in which you are accustomed then housework it is! Nowt wrong with that in my book.
DeleteI have some money saved for personal things. I'm not looking for a job, but I'll probably do some proofreading or maybe a couple of private lessons to pay for my photography habit. The missus is a school teacher, so she makes enough money that I don't need to work. But I need to do something, even if it isn't a 'proper' job.
